Arlen Nagata

Pastor Arlen is the Senior Pastor at Christ's Church at Kapolei.  He planted Christ’s Church at Kapolei in 1998 with founding pastor, Danny Yamashiro.  Since then, Pastor Arlen has shared his spiritual gifts of shepherding and teaching with the congregation of Christ’s Church at Kapolei. Over the years, Pastor Arlen has discipled and trained children, youth, and adults through his ministry.  Pastor Arlen loves people and has a passion to for them to understand God’s word simply and clearly.

In addition to Pastor Arlen’s ministry here in Hawaii, he has done short-term mission work in Micronesia, Israel, the Philippines, and Japan.  Currently he also serves as the Japan Mission Director for Paradise Global Mission.  Pastor Arlen takes teams of willing servants into Japan every year to strengthen the local churches in Japan. 

For recreation, he enjoys coaching volleyball, chasing golf balls around a course, and working with computers.

A graduate of Punahou School, he earned his B.A. in Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry from Simpson College and his M.A. in Religion from International College and Graduate School.  He has also received training in expository preaching from the Olford Ministries International in Tennessee and pastoral training at the Jack Hayford School of Pastoral Nurture.

Pastor Arlen is married to Melissa, a research associate at the State of Hawaii Department of Health.

Jeffrey K. Miyazawa

Dr. Jeff Miyazawa maintains a private practice emphasizing contemporary restorative and cosmetic dentistry in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii. He is a 1994 graduate of Creighton University and the world renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). His professional affiliations include the American Dental Association (ADA), Hawaii Dental Association (HDA), Honolulu County Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and the Oahu Professional Dental Seminars Study Club.

After relatives and friends from Japan encouraged him to do so, Dr. Miyazawa opened The Cosmetic Dental Center of the Pacific in addition to his practice in Kaneohe. The Center organizes a cosmetic smile makeover or comprehensive full mouth reconstruction, with a Hawaiian vacation for clients throughout the Pacific Rim.

In July of 2003, Dr. Miyazawa was appointed by the Governor of the State of Hawaii to the State Board of Dental Examiners where his duties include but are not limited to administering the state dental and dental hygiene licensing examinations, preserving and bettering the dental profession in Hawaii, and most importantly protecting the consumer. In December of 2005, he was appointed as the Vice-Chairman and in July 2006 assumed the role of Chairman of the Board.

As a dental board member, Dr. Miyazawa has the privilege of examining for the Central Regional Dental Testing Service (CRDTS), the agency that administers the dental licensing exam for the state of Hawaii.  In addition to his examining duties, Dr. Miyazawa is Hawaii's representative on the Steering Committee of CRDTS. 

Aside from his dental activities, Dr. Miyazawa is an active member at Faith Christian Fellowship, where he and his wife, Joanie, are involved in the Outreach Ministry, Refreshment Ministry, and are Small Group Leaders. He has combined his God given gift of providing dental care with his passion for evangelism and shared them on short term mission trips with the people of the Dominican Republic, Thailand, and Brazil.

In 2005, Dr. Miyazawa was appointed to the Advisory Board of Jesus Christ Is Calling You Ministries (JCCY) and its flagship ministry Paradise Global Mission (PGM). JCCY is a local organization dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people around the world. Since then, he has been appointed to PGM's Council of Eight, become the director of PGM-Brazil & PGM-Dominican Republic and yearly leads mission teams to Fortaleza, Brazil & El Catay, Dominican Republic for the purposes of JCCY.

Dr. Miyazawa and his wife Joanie have two sons: Jonah (8) & Joshua (6), and two daughters: Joy (3) & Jaclyn (Newborn). During his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and coaching high school baseball.
